What Can a Material Become?
Material Transformations
The second workshop approaches the symposium’s questions through the material itself.
Expert input introduces different ways of working with existing and discarded textiles, focusing on their histories, material qualities and potential for transformation. Through hands-on material exercises and experimentation, interdisciplinary groups explore how textiles can be reworked, reinterpreted and given new possibilities.
The workshop invites participants to work with what is already there — observing, testing and transforming materials to develop first ideas and concepts from their encounters.
